Project Objective:

Technology demonstrator to reduce vehicle weight by 25% with an unprecedented carbon fiber content of 80% achieved through the intense use of carbon fiber composites. Introduce a carbon fiber material and part fabrication technology that dramatically reduces cycle times to accommodate annual volumes of 2,000 vehicles and above.

Proven Results:

Incorporation of AMC® carbon fiber materials in the forged composite process for the production of a one-piece carbon fiber monocoque structure with a cycle time in minutes versus hours for other out of autoclave methods such as resin transfer molding (RTM).

AMC® carbon fiber material and Forged Composite process is proven for high-volume parts output of advanced carbon fiber structures in commercial production of high-performance vehicles.



Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Suspension Arms

Project Objective:

Replace the aluminum wishbone control arms of the suspensions and to achieve a weight reduction of 30%, while maintaining equal or better final part acquisition.

Proven Results:

All-Composite Suspension Arms achieved a 4.92 Kg (27%) total weight savings and the final part was cost competitive with the forged aluminum construction that it replaced.
