Project Objective:

Provide a lighter weight lower cost material and process solution for the production for firefighter helmet shells verses incumbent fiberglass fabric and polyester wet laid molding technology.

Proven Results:

Flame retardant enhanced hybrid ester based resin with chopped fiberglass reinforcement and molded in colors provide a lower cost material and process combined with weight savings. The energy management characteristics of this material system facilitate the capability of the molded helmet shell to provide optimum energy absorption over a wide range of temperature and impact variations.
